Manila - Basco

Depart Manila for Basco (very early morning flight) Transfer to Batanes Resort (or similar), check in and breakfast. A short orientation about the island will follow after breakfast. Spend the remainder of the morning free at leisure until lunch time. After lunch, board a local jeepney for Tukon Radar to get a bird’s eye view of Batan Island and its environs, stop briefly at Valugan Beach, one of the many boulder-lined coasts of Batanes, which are actually volcanic emissions of Mount Iraya, the province’s dormant volcano. Proceed to Naidi Hills where one can get a glimpse of Sabtang Island in the south, and Itbayat on the north from a view deck of a 6-storey high lighthouse. Catch the sunset at nearby Vayang Ranch, a pastureland of undulating grassy hillocks also known as the ‘Rolling Hills’ by the local residents. Find your own cozy spot, settle down nicely and feast your eyes on one of the best sunsets this side of the globe. Return to the resort at night fall.

Early morning breakfast, then transfer to San Vicente Port in Mahatao, where you will board a boat that will take you on a 45-minute ride on crested seas to Sabtang, a charming little island known for its quaint villages and breathtaking seascapes. Upon arrival, board a jeepney and depart for Chavayan, a village nominated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Explore the village and discover the Ivatan way of life as they go about their daily chores of keeping house, and be awed by their self-sufficiency and adaptability in this rugged, isolated land. Continue on with your trip, making short stops at Savidug, where the remains of ancient stone houses can be seen. Time permitting, visit other villages nearby. Picnic lunch will be served at Nakabuang Beach, where ample time will be spent swimming, sun-bathing or beach-combing. By mid-afternoon, prepare to board the boat for your return trip to Basco. Dinner and overnight at the resort.
