Visit the Provincial Museum in Bayombong to learn more about Luzon. After the long drive, stretch your legs on a short hike to the rice terrace viewpoint and the nearby village of Tam-an. Overnight in Banaue

Day3:

Banaue

Leaving our main luggage in Banaue and carrying just a day pack with our necessities for the next few days, we begin with a short (40 min) drive to the starting point for our 3-day trek. We'll trek through rice fields, forest and villages, staying overnight in local Ifugao villages where the people are still farming rice the way their ancestors did 2000 years ago.On the first day of our trek we'll walk approximately 5 hrs (a mixture of up, down and flat terrain). We start from Kinakin and hike upwards for approximately 2 hours on roads that are mostly paved. The next 2 hours will be on a rather flat path and the last hour will involve taking steps going down to the guesthouse in Cambulo. We'll spend the night in Cambulo Village.

Day4:

Banaue

Today we'll walk approximately 3 hours to Batad Village where we spend the night. This afternoon we'll have some free time to relax, read a book or have a massage from the locals. Batad's rice terraces are famous as they are constructed in the shape of an amphitheatre.

Day5:

Banaue

Today we'll walk approximately 2 hours upwards to Sadel. We are then transported back to Banaue by road (approx 1 hr),being reunited with our main luggage back at the guesthouse. After plenty of time to freshen up we head out in the afternoon to the Hiwang Village where we find a view overlooking rice terraces, Banaue town and the Cordillera mountains. We will also wonder around traditional Ifugao houses that have been converted into mini museums. Later that night you may want to enjoy a celebratory drink while watching the sun set over the rice terraces for the last time. Overnight in Banaue

Day6:

Banaue - Sagada

After a leisurely breakfast, visit the picturesque town of Sagada. Take good rest for tomorrow’s trekking trip. Overnight in Sagada

Day7:

Sagada

We enjoy an action packed 3 hour trek to visit the Hanging Coffins in Echo Valley today. Shoes with a good grip are a must on this trek as the trail is steep and often slippery with loose gravel at times. We visit the town cemetery and then stop to view the hanging coffins. We then trek going down on the side of some cliffs before reaching the coffins. Dangling high up on the limestone cliffs, the coffins are both mystifying and eerie in their presence. We then continue on by crossing a river (ankle deep), pass by a coffee plantation and a small waterfall. The trek then ends at the Sagada weaving factory. Please note this trek is quite adventurous and a good level of fitness is required. There is also the option of an afternoon sightseeing activity riding local transport to see the Klitepan and Kapay-aw rice terraces, the Sugong Hanging Coffins view deck and the entrance of the Lumiang Burial caves to see the stacks of coffins. Overnight in Sagada

Day8:

Sagada - Baguio City

Head towards Baguio City today. Our journey takes approximately 7 hours through some of the most spectacular scenery in the Philippines. Travelling through the Cordillera Central - the highest and largest mountain range in the Philippines - we pass mountains of incredible heights (and drops) dotted everywhere with small villages and terrace upon terrace of rice and other crops. This is one journey you don't want to sleep through. Baguio City was established by the American troops in 1900 and has become a popular destination for travellers and local tourists wanting to retreat from the heat of the lowlands. It's now a bustling urban centre offering town comforts high in the Cordillera Mountains. We do an afternoon walk to explore the city visiting Burnham park, a local market and the town's most popular shopping mall. Overnight in Baguio

Day9:

Baguio City

An early start by public bus takes us to the small town of Capas (approx 4 hrs), where we meet our guides and prepare for our Mt Pinatubo trek. Our main luggage will be stored at a guesthouse close to the base of Mt Pinatubo and we'll take only a small day pack to carry our necessities for the overnight trip. Please make sure everything is waterproofed as it can rain heavily at times. Ravel by 4x4 along a bumpy, dusty road (bring a scarf and sunglasses to protect your eyes - approx 2.5 hrs) before disembarking and trekking the final hour to the crater. On arrival at the crater we'll have free time to relax and take photos. Tonight we'll camp in tents at the Crater Lake. Sleeping bags will be provided but it can be cold at night here so bring warm clothing as well. Overnight in Mt Pinatubo
