Bako National Park is the oldest gazetted national park in Sarawak. It offers the perfect introduction to Sarawak flora and fauna. The 16 square kilometres of primary forests is home to seven distinct ecosystems; beach vegetation, cliff vegetation, mangrove, peat swamp forests, mixed dipterocarp forests, heath forests and grasslands.

Pickup from your hotel and drive about 40 minutes to Bako Fishing Village. From the village, take about a 30 minute boat ride to the park situated on a peninsula. The park’s coastline is dotted with small bays, coves and beaches. Bako is one of the best places in Sarawak to see wildlife in a natural setting. There are several trails to follow inside the park depending on level of fitness and interest. Visit the Park’s information centre and trek through mangrove forest to observe the mud skippers and blue-fiddler crabs. Follow the trails to look for proboscis monkeys and various species of carnivorous pitcher plants. After lunch, explore the park through monstrous rainforest trees for bird watching and other wildlife. Journey back to the jetty for boat ride to Bako Village and onward transfer back to your hotel.
