Bangkok - Bang Pa-in - Uthai Thani - Phitsanulok - Sukhothai - Chiang Mai - Luang Prabang - Pak Ou Cave - Vang Vieng - Vientiane

Itinerary

Day1:

Bangkok

Upon arrival at Bangkok International Airport in Thailand, be met and drive to your hotel for check-in. We leave rest of the day for you to relax, recover from Jet lag. Overnight in Bangkok.

Day2:

Bangkok - Bang Pa-in - Uthai Thani

At about 8 o’clock we will pick you up at your hotel in Bangkok. First we head about 60 km north from Bangkok to Bang Pa-In, a former royal palace that nowadays serves as a summer residence of the king. In a private long tail boat, we bring you along the Chaophaya River to Ayutthaya, the last capital of Bangkok, destroyed 1767 by the Burmese army. Visit here, the most important temples, including Wat Phanan Choen, Wat Yai Mongkol and Wat Rachaburana. Drive through the central plains to Lopburi, also called city of apes. In the center of the city, there is an old Hindu-shrine, where hundreds of monkeys are living. These monkeys hang around in the city and most restaurants have sticks ready to beat away the monkeys. Further on you will visit an old Khmer-temple, Wat Prang Sam Yoth, in the city of Lopburi. Overnight in Uthai Thani.

Day3:

Uthai Thani - Phitsanulok - Sukhothai

Travel to Bungboraphet,a huge swamp area where we will use a small boat to discover plants and birds in this wetland.Then continue through the rice plains, up to Phitsanoloke.Here is an old, still active temple, Wat Mahatat.From Phitsanoloke to Sukothai, it is another hour drive.You will visit the most ancient temple ruins, such as Wat Mahatat, Wat Sra Sri and Wat Sri Sawai. During the visit of this huge park area, you may walk or you may use the bicycles, our driver will rent for you. Since very few cars are allowed in the Historical site here, it's a nice change, to have some exercise on the bike.Overnight in Sukothai.

Day4:

Sukhothai - Chiang Mai

The trip continues through the mountains to Lampang, where you will visit a typical northern-style temple, the Wat Phrathat Lampang Luang, build mostly with teakwood. After another 20 km you will reach the market Tungvien. Have a walk through the market where the people from the nearby mountain-villages sell various exotic animals, vegetables and other things. It is one of the oldest temples of Thailand. Arrival in Chiang Mai in the late afternoon, and free at leisure at hotel. Overnight in Chiang Mai.

Day5:

Chiang Mai - Chiang Mai - Luang Prabang

After breakfast, transferred back to Chiang Mai International Airport for a flight to Luang Prabang. On arrival in Luang Prabang, transfer to the hotel for check in. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day6:

Luang Prabang

For early-risers, there is a very special dawn visit to witness the long lines of orange-robed monks leaving their pagodas to receive offerings of food from Luang Prabang residents. After breakfast, a city tour begins at the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum. Continue to Wat Mai, a temple renowned for its golden bas-reliefs. Then the Wat Sene with its beautiful golden façade, temple: Wat Xieng Thong. In the afternoon, visit Wat Visoun, Wat Aham, Wat That where the ashes of King Sisavang Vong are interred inside the large central stupa. Continue to climbing the 328 steps to the top of Mount Phousi to enjoy a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding countryside, Stop at the night market. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day7:

Luang Prabang - Pak Ou Cave

After breakfast embark for a boat trip on the Mekong River to visit the mysterious Pak Ou Caves. Then back to Luang Prabang with stop off Ban Xang Hai to sample local rice wine and visit its handicrafts. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day8:

Luang Prabang - Vang Vieng - Vientiane

After breakfast, departure from Luang Prabang to Vientiane, on the way over stop in Vang Vieng, then continue to Vientiane. On arrival in Vientiane transfer to the hotel Overnight in Vientiane.

Day9:

Vientiane

After breakfast full day dedicated to the visit of capital city: Wat Sisaket, Wat Phra Keo, the Patuxai monument, That Luang, the holiest place in Laos and the Vat Simuang, the most popular and venerated temple in Vientiane. Visit of market with handmade crafts and sarongs. Overnight in Vientiane.

Day10:

Vientiane - Pak Ou Cave - Vientiane

After breakfast, transfer to the Vientiane International Airport for your departure flight.
