Vientiane - Xiangkhoang - Luang Prabang - Khouangsi Waterfall - Pak Ou Cave - Bangkok - Sai Yok - Sankla Buri - Thong Pha Phum - Kanchanaburi

Itinerary

Day1:

Vientiane

Welcome to Vientiane. Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. After a break, we start visiting the major sights of the capital; including the oldest Wat Sisaket, the temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. On the way to the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, we stop to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. Overnight in Vientiane.

Day2:

Vientiane - Xiangkhoang

Today, you are free until your flight time to transfer you to Wattay Airport for a short flight to Xiengkhouang, which was devastated by American bombing between 1964 and 1973. Upon arrival, Meet your guide and visit Max Office where you can watch about bombing film. Overnight in Xiengkhuang.

Day3:

Xiangkhoang

After breakfast, Visit Phonsavanh markets before we drive out to visit the Plain of Jars, an impressive archaeological site where hundreds of large stone jars are littered all over the plateau. We also have time, this afternoon seeing the old capital of Muang Khoun Province and the nearby villages, home to the Hmong hill tribe and Tai Dam people. They have an interesting local culture and a colorful history. Overnight in Xiengkhuang.

Day4:

Xiangkhoang - Luang Prabang

After breakfast, We are heading out the this small town to Luang Prabang about 270KM, on the way, we drop off and see a site more than 200 years old Buddha images in Thampra and varied Hmong and varied hill tribe minority villages along the road. They are nice, friendly and welcome you to visit. After a photo stop, we continue driving up hill, enjoying mountain splendid natural scenery, forest and landscape. After a tea or coffee break at Sala Phoukhoun, The journey will take us over mountainous region to Luang Prabang. The tranquility and charm of this town with its splendid natural scenery and cultural sights make it one of the most delightful places to visit in Laos. After checking into hotel. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day5:

Luang Prabang - Khouangsi Waterfall

After Breakfast, Visit Wat Visoun, the site of impressive Thad Makmo stupa. Visit the National Museum, once a king's palace.Continue to visit Wat Mai. Built in 1796. Visit Wat Xieng Thong further emphasizes the uniqueness of Luang Prabang, its several roofs sweeping low to the ground. See also the impressive "tree of life" mosaic here. The gilt panel on the exterior of the chapel depicts semi-erotic episodes from the Ramayana.Afternoon, we drive out of town to the beautiful Kuang Sii Fall. Local hill tribe planting seasonal crops. Arrive at Tad Kuang Sii, Enjoy picnic lunch. We then take a swim around, relax. Return to town late afternoon, short stop at Black Hmong Village, where hill tribe hand-made handicrafts as souvenirs for visitors pass by. Arrive in the town, transfer to your hotel.Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day6:

Luang Prabang - Pak Ou Cave

After breakfast, we enjoy a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a beautiful view of the tranquil countryside as well as an interesting visit to the mysterious of Pak Ou Caves, crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes. Along the way, we stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where they make the distillation of local rice wine. On return, we take a short drive to Ban Xang Khong, well known for its hand weaving. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day7:

Luang Prabang - Bangkok

After breakfast relax until your flight time to transfer you to airport for a morning flight to Bangkok. Upon arrival at Bangkok International Airport in Thailand, be met and drive to your hotel for check-in. We leave rest of the day for you to relax. Overnight in Bangkok.

Day8:

Bangkok - Sai Yok

The trip goes in southern direction to Samut Songkram and further on to the floating market of Damnoern Saduak, the only floating market still active in Thailand. In a small boat you will be rowed through the market canals and the nearby khlongs for about one hour. Like one hundred years before, people from the surrounding areas come here to this market to sell and buy fruits and vegetables on their boats. From Damnoern Saduak, it will take another hour by car to get to Kanchanaburi. Visit the so-called JEATH-museum, the war-cemetery and the famous "Bridge over the Kwai". You will make a ride on the Death Railway to the last exit Namtok where you will be picked up again. Arrival in the hotel in the late afternoon. Overnight near Saiyoke

Day9:

Sai Yok - Sankla Buri

After breakfast you will make a boat trip to the waterfall of Saiyoke Yai. There is the possibility to swim. Go on by car in western direction to Sanklaburi, a small Burmese influenced town along the Khao Laem Lake & National Park. Overnight on the banks of Khao Laem Lake.

Day10:

Sankla Buri - Thong Pha Phum

In the morning visit the famous “Mon-bridge”, an 800 meters long wood bridge, connecting the two banks of the lake. A Burmese temple of the well known about Luang Por Uthama is our next stop, before continuing with a boat trip along the Khao Laem lake to see an old temple, that was covered by the water until 10 years ago, but because of the descending water in the last years, this temple came above the water level and today it lays dry. Lunch will be taken in a small restaurant in Sanklaburi. Afterwards we make a short visit the border place “Three Pagoda Pass”, were Myanmar and Thailand edges. 2 hours drive back in direction to Kanchanaburi and after reaching Thongphapoom we will check in at the Ban Huay Ulong Resort, an idyllic located resort surrounded by a lot of greens Overnight in Thongphapoom

Day11:

Thong Pha Phum - Kanchanaburi

After breakfast visit Hindat hot springs, only another 10 minutes drive. You may take a hot bath; the pools are separated for women and men. Along a small road we continue to Erawan waterfall and after another 40 km we will get to Huay Kamin national park with its really beautiful and widely unknown waterfall. We make a small trek to the different steps of the falls, the way is easy. Time for relax or swim in the stream or the cascades. In the afternoon we drive back to Kanchanaburi city. Overnight in Kanchanaburi.

Day12:

Kanchanaburi - Bangkok

On the way back to Bangkok our first stop is about 15 km south of Kanchanaburi, to visit two temple sites built on a small hill next to each other but separated with a wired fence, as both temples are trying to get the donations of the visitors. Wat Khao Noi is the Thai-style temple and Wat Tham Sua is the Chinese style temple, both with many beautiful views. We continue our way back to Bangkok, the last stop during this trip is at Wat Nakom Pathom, where we will visit the Pathom Chedi Nakom Pathom, the highest temple building in Thailand with 120 meters high. At afternoon we will arrive at Bangkok, we bring you either to the booked hotel or to the airport. Overnight in Bangkok.
