Bagdogra - Phuentsholing
There are at least 98 India domestic flights and 21 international flights running at Bagdogra Airport weekly. More flight options at Bagdogra provide more flexibility and choices for your travel to Bhutan. Upon arrival at Bagdogra Airport, you will be greeted by Bravo Asia Tours’ local tour guide and driver. Embark on the vehicle and transfer to Phuentsholing (approximately 4hours, 160 km). Be assisted on hotel checkin then have a good rest. After dinner, you can visit the local market of Phuentsholing. Phuentsholing - Thimphu
Today we are going to take a long driving to Thimphu, approximately 6 hours, 180km. On arrival, check in of the hotel in Thimphu. The rest day will be free until dinner. We will have an evening exploratory walk around Thimphu main streets and markt. Overnight in Thimphu
After a leisurely breakfast, we will visit handmade paper mill, School of Arts and Crafts (closed on Sundays). Students learn 13 different main stream arts in Bhutan and polish their skills in this school. Then head to National Library and Simply Bhutan Museum. After that, we will drive pass by memorial chorten built memory of the 3rd King to the oldest temple in the valley – Changangkha Lhakhang. Our tour today will be concluded at Zilukha Nunnery. Thimphu - Punakha - Paro
Today, we will have an excursion tour to Punakha and Dochu La Pass. After that, we will move to Paro. Punakha was the capital of Bhutan till 1955. Dochu La Pass is a popular destination among tourists because of its 360 degree panoramic view of Himalayan range. Overnight in Paro
After a leisurely breakfast, we will visit Ta Dzong, originally built as Watchtower, which now houses National Museum. The extensive collection includes qntique thangkha, textiles, weapons, household objects and sorts of artifacts. Then walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong, which means Fortress of the heap of jewels. Along the wooden galleries lining the inner courtyard are fine wall paintings. Overnight in Paro
After breakfast, we will visit Taktshang Monastery by walk for approximately 2 hours; comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended (for those who cannot hike we will arrange a horse for transfer up to cafeteria). This monastery is one of the most famous Bhutan’s monasteries, perched on the side of a cliff 900 m above the Paro Valley floor. It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery and hence it is also called”Tiger’s Nest”. Afternoon drive to Drukgyel Dzong, a ruined fortress where Bhutanese warriors fought against Tibetan invaders centuries ago. The snow dome of sacred Chomolhari, “Mountain of goddess” can be seen in all her glory from the approach road to the Dzong. On the way, visit the 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the 108 temples built in the Himalayas by Tibetan King, Songtsen Gampo. The building of this temple marks the introduction of Buddhism in Bhutan. Overnight in Paro
